Consultant Pulmonologist

A Pulmonologist and Critical Care specialist with nearly a decade of experience, Dr. Padmavathy has an extensive work experience in managing various adult respiratory disorders and allergies in major tertiary care hospitals in Kerala and Apollo Hospitals, Chennai. In her focus on making high quality respiratory care both accessible and affordable, she became the first Pulmonologist to set up a full-fledged Respiratory Medicine department with Flexible bronchoscopy, Pulmonary function tests and sleep studies in rural Wayanad. Dr. Padma has done numerous programs on social media, TV, radio, and published several journal articles. She has both presented and served as faculty at numerous conferences in National and International forums. She is an avid Adolescent Social Health Activist and is a passionate advocate against tobacco and substance abuse and behavioural addictions among adolescents. She is actively involved in conducting regular programs to create awareness among students, parents, caregivers & teachers.  She has mentored and served as guide to students of MBBS, Pharm D and Nursing departments.

She has a keen interest in bringing Interventional Pulmonology to the forefront in North Kerala and and is active in performing procedures such as diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopies, Medical thoracoscopies, endobronchial ultrasound guided samplings and sleep studies. In her focus on making high quality respiratory care both accessible and affordable, she became the first Pulmonologist to set up a full-fledged Respiratory Medicine department with Flexible bronchoscopy, Pulmonary function tests and sleep studies in rural Wayanad. She has not only  published several research articles in various National and International journals but has also presented and served as faculty at numerous conferences in National and International forums. Dr. Padma is very enthusiastic about community service & social responsibility and continues to deliver innumerous health awareness programs on social media, TV and radio.
