5 Winter Skincare Tips to Keep You Glowing All Season
The season for warm sweaters is in full force as the temperatures are falling and there is a chill in the air. Even while winter is full of enjoyable things like vacations, snow days, and nights by the fire, it may also damage our skin with its dry air and chilly temperatures. Your winter skincare regimen may need to be updated if your generally well-behaved skin displays dullness, dryness, irritation, and more. You may prepare your skin for the harsher weather of the season by switching up your regular lighter moisturizers for richer formulations, being gentle with exfoliation, and using a relaxing cleanser, to name a few strategies.
If you’re looking to keep your skin comfy and hydrated all winter long, read on for our tips!
1. Switch to a calming cleanser
The first (and most crucial) step in your winter skincare regimen should be cleansing. So choose a solution that treats your skin gently and doesn’t dehydrate your skin when you scrape to remove makeup, debris, and oils. To wash the day away and moisturise your skin in the winter, formulas like cleaning creams and balms are a go-to.
2. Try a richer moisturiser
In the summer, we enjoy the cool sensation of light gel moisturisers, but to effectively seal in moisture in the winter, somewhat heavier formulations are required. Find a moisturiser that is incredibly moisturising and comes in the shape of a thick cream or lotion, such as hyaluronic acid.
3. Exfoliation is key
When your skin is feeling sensitive from exposure to dry, cold air, it may be tempting to forego exfoliators. However, exfoliating makes sure that you remove any dead skin cells that might flake off and result in dry skin. Additionally, they aid in the effective absorption of your winter skincare products. The secret is to exfoliate less frequently and use a gentler product than you would in the summer.
4. Protect your lips, too
Lips that are dry, flaky, and chapped are due to the relatively thin and readily permeable skin of your lips. Rehydrate and preserve your lips when on the road, it’s crucial to always have a quality lip balm with you. Lip balms contain critical nutrients to keep lips hydrated from the inside out. In addition it adds a physical barrier between your lips and the chilly, moisture-sucking air.
5. Use SPF all year-round
Although you’ve probably heard it before, it bears repeating: you should always protect your skin from the sun. Solar damage can still occur to your skin even if it may be darker and cloudier outside. Even when the temperature lowers, radiation is still there year-round. Minute quantities of radiation may build up to damage like skin cancer, wrinkles, pigmentary issues, and ageing of the skin. For this reason, SPFs are still highly necessary. Therefore, be sure to use your preferred broad-spectrum sunscreen every day. Feel secure knowing that your skin is shielded from UVA and UVB radiation.
